Our Long National Nightmare Will Continue Indefinitely

I guarantee you that tomorrow, at some point, some asshole, on some network, is going to say something earnest about What It Means for 2016. And we’ll start all over with swing states and undecideds.

I personally endorse this view:

I mean, really, why does everyone believe the president is the leader of our country? What he is, is the head of our government, i.e., he is the leader of the least part of our country. We have two groups in America: the people who work hard and create businesses and jobs and all the things that make our country great, and the screw-ups who get in the way of that. Government is by far the greatest force of the latter. So why do we as citizens think the guy we put in charge of the government and all the bureaucrats — “King Idiot,” basically — is our leader? That’s like saying a pothole is in charge of the road.

I don’t care if you go vote tomorrow. You’re a grown-up, you make the call. To all those people who say something along the lines of “you can’t complain if you don’t vote” — you’re wrong, unless this election also repeals the First Amendment, which it ain’t. I didn’t vote for any fooking catfish inspectors, and I’m complaining about that. See how that free speech dealio works?
