I go screaming right past my father and, like a clueless bat out of hell, straight into grandfather territory: who is Jennifer Hudson?

John Robb’s Weblog: Where is the Financially Viable American?

So now we are at an impasse. We gutted the sole potential source of stability of the global economic system. The American.

Hellifino. I don’t feel gutted. You feel gutted?

Surely, there are those who do. Let us take a moment to acknowledge their loss and pain.

OK, that’s enough Oprah. Pull your boots on, and let’s get going.

This is what drives me crazy about Robb - smart guy, but he just ditches every lesson ever when the chips are down. Like that GAME OVER dude in the space movie. Fuck, rack another magazine, and let’s get the job done, that’s the way I think.

EXISTENTIAL QUESTION: Do I think like this because of the Alamo? I mean, I know that legend informs my decisions. Am I just Jim Bowie, bashing in a random Mexican jaw, only to be killed on my cot? Well, fuck that. After the Alamo, there was a little bit of difficulty for the seeming unconquerable hordes. Is that you, Santy Anna? I don’t play this game for me no more…got grandkids, you know. This, this part here, this is gravy…seriously happy to be here.

Here’s some nasty old cussing Hank 3 from the new album - I think the world could use a lot more of this badditude:

Journo gets the vapors

Posted by TFG on 24th October 2008

O bloody evanescent horseshit:

So why weren’t those legions of hungry reporters set loose on the Obama campaign? Who are the real villains in this story of mainstream media betrayal?

The editors. The men and women you don’t see; the people who not only decide what goes in the paper, but what doesn’t; the managers who give the reporters their assignments and lay-out the editorial pages. They are the real culprits.

Sorry, bubba, but this is NOT 1830, when there were 12 printing presses in The New World. Like it or not, you and your guild took upon your shoulders a moral charge, and convinced one hell of a lot of us working stiffs of your validity, and you failed. Not some stupid internet cat picture thing in block letters, either. Failure, plain and simple.

Editors, my ass. No doubt they were complicit, how could they not be? But you’re a man who allegedly saw this coming, and yet you remained silent for — how long, again?

There are undoubtedly thousands running around with a big foam finger saying #1 for finding a journo willing to admit to some difficulties. Except he’s not. He’s blaming someone else. I’ll give him this, and only this — he finally wrote it down somewhere. I guess it’s a start, but I don’t expect a whole lot of more of the lot of them. See below for a gajillion examples.

Scott McClellan bails on John McCain; President Bush still on board | Countdown to Crawford | Los Angeles Times

His face lighting up as bright as his French blue shirt, it is clear what he’s going to say before he opens his mouth.

Sounds like they’re talking about a retard, doesn’t it?

I’ll admit it…Bush has some kind of blind-spot for these kinds of peckerwoods. At least he put this one in charge of talking to a bunch of other peckerwoods, which means the latter peckerwoods think he’s still something special, so they write like a Jr. High gossip column - His face lighting up

When I’m Ruler of the World, of course (and the day is coming), I will give my friends cushy jobs, too. Fucking hell, they deserve as much or more as Short-bus Ryalnder-Keeton-Strahorn-MOMMY!-McClellan deserves. Trust me, though - you will love my people, but you will never see them. I’m hiring nothing but juggy young gals from Texas, California and Florida to tell you fools what you need to know. If anything lights up, it’s going to be the zippers of the dorkwads writing wire copy nobody wants and for papers nobody reads.

Sarah-Jeri 2012

Posted by TFG on 24th October 2008

Please, pretty please.

I was talking to my sainted mother tonight. Though I avoid — really, really avoid — talking politics with my mom, she told me outright that she’s already voted for McCain / Palin. You could have knocked me over with a feather. Not in one million years would I have put a thin dime on my mother voting for a Republican. Bottom line, it boils down to Sarah Palin, who reminds her, she told me, (and me, of which I’ve already spoken) of her mother and her grandmother. Pure and simple. Peggy Noonan and Christoph Buckley might not get her, but my mama does.

That fairly blows me away. It shouldn’t, though. After all, she raised me.

A Note To The Younger Staffers On The Two Campaigns

But you’ve lived in 24/7 in the service of one of the candidates, and for many of you, it is the biggest thing you’ve ever done in your lives and your their devotion to the cause is intense. I talk with many of you — ssh, don’t tell your bosses — I know how long it’s been since you’ve gotten a good night’s sleep, visited your girlfriend or boyfriend, eaten a home cooked meal, etc.

It is an awesome thing to do… to try to help elect the next leader of the free world… regardless of which side you’re on.

OH, BULLSHIT.

I would like to have some of that brainpower, currently overinvested in policy minutiae, devoted to solving real-world problems. I spend way too much time screwing around with following politics, but then I go out and produce something, every day, and sell it to people. Those staffers, on the other hand, are just praying they get some kind of selection by an egomaniacal politician or one of his asslicking acolytes. Or so it seems.

Seriously, America doesn’t need more poli-sci dipsticks wandering around looking for another 24 month gig in DC. Go do something good with your life. America can get by just freaking fine without a mountain of mealy-mouthed talking-point talkers. Who then become politicians-for-life. Ugh.

Counterpoint: Brad DeLong thinks that’s only true of McCain staffers. Uhhbama folks, you’re the shizznit. Jesus.

I need to just do kayak blogging and truck blogging. Gun blogging a little bit. Some music blogging, too. Books? Probably not…no education. Food, well, everybody has to eat.

Seriously, Democrats lead the race in going round the toilet bowl

Posted by TFG on 24th October 2008

You understand we’re dealing with Uhhhbama the Messiah because a congressman sent text messages to interns, right? Tell me you dig that part of electoral politics, OK?

Well, the txt cngrsmn was replaced by this wonderful member of the human race:

nm_mahoney_081023_mn1“The former Congressional staff member, Patricia Allen, was paid $121,000 by Mahoney after she was fired and threatened to sue.

The settlement was reached after Allen hired a lawyer who sent the Congressman a “demand” letter, listing specific examples of Mahoney’s alleged “gross misconduct” and “stalking” including: a) Calling Allen late in the evenings and demanding “phone sex;”

b) Demanding that Allen answer his calls or face termination;

c) Demanding that Allen attend fundraisers and “tease c-ck” to bring in more donations from the male members of the public;

d) Demanding that Allen engage in sexual conduct with another woman for his enjoyment.”

Your basic, everyday, run-of-the-mill pimp. Seriously. He sounds like one of those large gaudy black men that populate the late-night cable stuff. I read fiction, and if this kind of thing had popped up in a book, I would pretty much just leave it a gas station or hotel room for someone else to waste their precious minutes on earth.

Congratulations, America! Texting vs. on-demand cock-teasing & hot lesbo action. Excellent choice! Oliver Willis is probably locked in his laundry room over the pornification of America.

6. The New York Times endorses Obama. It endorsed McCain and Democrat Hillary Clinton in the spring, thus it has backed everyone in the race not named Rudy Giuliani. Its editorial endorsement is worth less than its stock.

Take a point from Obama.

Friday already? Jeezus, where’s my frikkin’ carb adaptor? I need to get my Sweet Baby purring. I kinda whacked a fence post with the River Runner a few days ago when I might have been overserved by the new barmaid during the Pokes loss on Sunday at the local, and overestimated my driveway braking margin by a few thousandths of an inch. So I got a driver-side headlight that’s good for passenger-side possum hunting and little else, so I got to do a little banging on some sheet metal with a 3 lb sledge. And I’d rather do that in the carport, which is unfortunately currently occupied by the Sweet Baby short stepper with two flat tires AND NO FRIKKING HOLLEY 390. Chop, chop.

Gun show tomorrow in San Antonio. I predict lots of overpriced hi-cap mags. Hell, overpriced everything. We’re facing a Democratic supermajority, after all. Me, I sold all my guns, don’t have a single one left. Nope, no guns here. Me, I loves me some welfare — where do I go to get my FEMA check? And where do I go to sign up for the WPA? I’m an undereducated goat-roper who loves Jesus. Needs me some help, stat.

LATwats Discover Joe’s Reticence

Posted by TFG on 24th October 2008

VP candidate kept from media and no crowd questions. Not Palin. It’s Biden! | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

Is it possible we’ve been living in a bubble for the last several weeks, not noticing a complete role reversal between the Democratic vice presidential candidate, Sen. Joe Biden, and his Republican counterpart, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska?

The always astute Jake Tapper over at ABC makes a shocking point:

Now, Palin, who was once so sequestered from the media it allowed her opponents to caricature her and helped create “Free Sarah Palin” buttons, is meeting with more and more national reporters and, unreported by them, numerous local media types at virtually every campaign stop.

Sarah Palin was sequestered, if you want to call it that, for two whopping weeks. You mediots made it a big deal. You mediots built the Free Sarah button machines and then handed them out. Thank you for noticing the the man with the highest IQ in the room has kinda vanished. I expect the same level of scrutiny, like how much his last botox treatment cost, who paid for it, and when his next one is.

Why Biden Hasn’t Been Real Visible Lately

Posted by TFG on 24th October 2008

By the way, where is the Deathbed Media on Joe’s accessibility? Why hasn’t Joe been on Saturday Night Bore? Do we have an accurate accounting for Joe’s botox treatments and hair-plugs? Joe the Senator & Vice-Presidential candidate, not Joe the Plumber? Joe the Plumber has done more talking lately.

Maybe Biden is busy vetting website campaign contributors. I hear there might be some issues there.

World Serious Game #2

Posted by TFG on 24th October 2008

Rays squeeze speed out of Big Brown in win - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Rumble, actually, is a kind way to describe the act of Cliff Floyd taking his pieces and parts, all the bones and joints and ligaments that comprise his listed-at-230-but-probably-closer-to-250-pound body, and propelling them forward. It is more like trudge. Or maybe sputter.

When I saw his name on the screen, I said to myself, well, self, it’s gotta be another Cliff Floyd.

Another good game. 1-1, and off to Philly.
