Solid Moronicity of the Day, #1

Jumping Jehoshaphat on a pogo stick. I loves me some ice hockey and some salt-and-vinegar french fries, and the fine little ladies from Windsor make me go “Ooooh, la-la!”, but somebody got their brain stem snapped off during the last freeze:
If that’s the case, you’d think NASCAR would be on top of the automotive world’s leading trend: electric drive systems and the move toward plug-in vehicles. If GM is betting the farm on its electric Volt car, NASCAR doesn’t appear to be following — let alone leading.
It’s not uncommon for presidential candidates to sponsor NASCAR racers, but Barack Obama decided against it this month. “Stock car racing could be seen as being antithetical to any green automotive policies that Obama might support,” a recent entry on the blog Autobloggreen speculated.
So here’s my suggestion: What about starting a NASCAR division dedicated to the racing of electric cars? Cars could be repowered during pit stops with battery swaps. Each team would be allowed a certain number of batteries. That way, teams aiming to win would have to focus on improving battery range and power density.
Yeah, I can see the fans lining up all across America for an exciting weekend of battery swaps and the ennervating hum of a hive of bees washing over them from the race-track. Really, that’s pretty damned dumb. Bag of doorknobs dumb.
Electric cars didn’t make America great - electricity did play an enormous part of it, tho. So it’s not that far-fetched for this frostback to posit this. Unfortunately, he’s blinded by the Warmist religion and a socialist upbringing. Here’s an idea — start a Canuckistan version of NASCAR, OK, and run it the way you want, Tyler, old bean. Me, I’ll stick with good old cast-iron mills churning out American horsepower. I’ll bet on it, even. I say the internal combustion engine still has at least two decades to rule the roost as the most-sold automotive powerplant. And me, I’m blinded by my love of monster engines, as the rare reader knows, so I could be way off.
LMFAO that this is in the Business section. I always thought of Toronto as kind of a can-do biz city for Canada. Guess not.

Actually you’re a day late an a dollar short in thinking the Canucks should start their own NASCAR series, they have, bought and paid for by NASCAR themselves.

Maybe we could raise money for a spoof Obama sponsorship, if we weren’t too bitter.

Is this where I bring up the National Electric Drag Racing Association?
