Bringing back the double-nickel

Posted by TFG on July 4th, 2008

National speed limit pushed as gas saver - CNN.com

We haven’t even elected Hopie McChangerson, and the Republicans already want to jump right into Jimmy Carter Jr.’s pocket. While wearing a sweater, I bet.

I’ve not driven a motorcar since Booth shot Nixon in front of the Dakota.

God help us, but they have forgotten that it’s time, not money. You can make more of the latter.

By the way, a Virginian. Eastern Elite. Rides in a limo six blocks to work. Probably wishes we were still part of the Empire upon which the sun never sets, too.

What the hale? I thought you were on vacation, or taking a break. My feed must have gone south, cause it missed a bunch of these posts, everything since the one on Sy Hersch.

    I’ll reinstall.

They haven’t forgotten anything. They just like ordering people around. It’s not like they have to spend any more time behind the wheel, and there are party hosts to receive approving comments from.

Well, he’s not running for the Senate again. At least that’s a plus, except that it’ll be Mark “Teeth” Warner giving the Donks another Senate seat, as we pursue the navel-gazing, flower-sniffing, tree-hugging, corporate-bashing politics of “change”.

    Shoot me now..

When I have time, I don’t mind driving a little slower to save fuel, but I don’t want that to be a legal reason for some asshole cop to pull me over for “suspicion of DUI” or some silliness.

I do doubt this sort of revival of the lower speed limit idea to come from some westerner, where distances are considerably longer than they are in the overcrowded east. Too bad the Republicans have so many statists in the Senate, House, the governor’s office in Sacramento, and so forth.
