Everything seemingly is spinning out of control

Everything seemingly is spinning out of control - Yahoo! News

Skip on by — I just wanted to blog that idiotic headline for future reference. 10-1 the whole article will be gone in a few days, but I love the whole idea of 21st century journalism (journalism!) pondering the imponderable idea that everything is spinning out of control. Frankly, the idea that someone with a degree wrote not just the headline but the story it hovers above is a good sign that everything is indeed spinning out of control. Not quite the spin or the control they mean, but still…si se puede, bitches.

I used to have to write those kinds of pieces, now and then. An editor would say, here, have some fun with this. I assure you the authors thought they were being funny. Meanwhile, they’ve moved on, back to libeling Bush and McCain and tooting Baby Barry’s horn.

I think they meant to use the word swimmingly rather than seemingly. It fits the narrative for the messiah better.

Technically though, I think the term for Senator Obama is rainmaker. If things get better, he takes credit for it. If things get worse, hey, he’s still the president but he’s working on it. If only his predecessors hadn’t made it worse than he realized… (I think your recent reference to The Wire reminded me of this.)

Like I said, I just love the headline. Some motherscratcher went to school for six years to learn to write that. S/he probably got laid a lot, though, and that’s got to count for something, no?

Well we are spinning, this earth of ours, so I guess it’s technically accurate.
