Cobb: The Last Word on Obama’s Character
I am convinced that Obama is pursuing a sort of liberal radical chic acceptance. That this half-black Harvard grad has gone all Patty Hearst on us. That he deliberately chose the most distressed blackfolks in his ambit to align himself with their desperate hopes in a paternalistic way in order to develop the kind of credibility and ‘authenticity’ he believes that he needs as a politician.
Both he and Michelle are very clueless as to what their privileges in America mean, and the fact that they keep bringing up the “He could have had a Wall Street job but instead came to work in the projects” is their story and they’re sticking to it, like missionaries in the jungle trying to convince themselves of the righteousness of their mission. They expect to be respected as long suffering souls who have made their sacrifices for the most noble of causes, and believe me they want the rest of us to sacrifice too - they’re after that tax.
That’s it in a nutshell. Barry is naught but a poser. And he’s a Chicago pol, too, from the same cess gene pool that emerged the Daleys and their pack of hacks for decades. That might be good enough for Chicago, and it might work up there, but it flat don’t fly in the rest of the world.
And I still stand by my prediction - he’ll be our next president. America has become like young women and fashion– whatever’s different from last year. Long skirts, short skirts, lacy tops, starched tops, pointy shoes, flats. More Idiocracy.
I had a very good friend tell me that he wanted so badly to believe in Barry. Not in those words, but that’s the bottom line. I don’t blame him. We all want to believe in The Savior. He’s done been here once, though, and we don’t know when he’s coming back, and I’m willing to bet that this cat ain’t Him (though he does have a lot of self-willed Jesus in him, that’s for sure.) I urged my young friend, though, to look to the men who founded this unique institution we call America for advice on Savioring. Those guys thought long and hard about this, and wrote a lot of it down. It’s well and truly worth reading.
I swing back and forth between salvageable and un-salvageable. Bottom line, my natural hope & faith in the good and the great make me go for salvageable, because this is the last chance we’ll ever have. But good gravy, it’s a hard slog, and now my head hurts.

I’ve noted that Senator Obama seems like a nice guy and he’ smore honorable than most in his profession, but he is still a politician and what’s more, as you noted, a Chicago politician. He’s also a dyed-in-the-wool lefty, so I’ll never vote for him no matter how honest he is. What’s scary is that anybody out there, much less a sizeable percentage of the electorate, thinks any politician is going to save them.

Obama win the presidency. Ha! You need a new crystal ball, Scott. Lots of people thought Kerry was a shoo-in, remember? He lost by five million votes. My prediction is that Barry, who some people still think is a Muslim, is going to lose by a lot more.

I’ve explained my reasons before, but basically he’s the Anti-Bush — a black guy from the North who’s a real socialist and anti-war guy. Kerry was never that. So far, Barry’s sticking to the script, and I don’t really expect any deviation from it. Never forget that we’ve got eight more years of 18 year old idiots rebelling against their parents. Or 27 year olds, either one.
And I feel like we’re so far past caring about our founding principles, in whole, as a country, that he’ll win.
No, I won’t predict the margin…it’s too early.
I hope I’m wrong as much as you hope I’m wrong, too. Eating crow on this won’t bother me one bit.

Wasn’t there something in the Bible about some guy like that? Seems like the second coming of Jesus, preaches really good sermons all the time about love and unity, stuff like that?
Seems like I remember something like that…somewhere toward the end of the book.

McCain’s gonna beat him like a drum. 28% of Hillary’s votes have said that they will vote for McCan’t over Obama. That’s over 10% of the electorate, enough to win any national race.

I don’t hope you’re wrong. I know you’re wrong. His drubbing is going to be a sight to behold. And Detroit and D.C. and the South Side of Chicago will probably go up in flames. Whoop-de-doo. You are fixated on the youth vote, Scott. But there is no youth vote. Never has been. They’ll stuff envelopes and handout fliers. What they won’t do is register. And even the few who do won’t bother to vote on election day. Never have, never will. Look what they did to Eugene McCarthy. He lost every state. What there is the baby boomers getting older and more conservative and the old do register and they do vote.

Gah, but I hope he loses big, but I just don’t know.
But I do know this much. If the Afro-folk and Gyne-folk have nothing better to offer than gun-grabbing statist traitors like Hussein and Hitlery, I’ll probably be voting for old white guys for President for the rest of my days, which, based on family history, could be another 50 or 60 years. And that’s just fine by me.
