A few more throw-way-backs

Posted by TFG on March 29th, 2008

Thin Lizzy - The Cowboy Song:

(click here for the album version)

Sweet - Ballroom Blitz:

(I get giddy every time I hear this — Broadway Skateland, man…speed skate tune)

Marshall Tucker Band - Ramblin’ on my Mind

(watch Toy Caldwell’s thumb-picking — doubt you’ll see much of that any more)

The Outlaws - Green Grass and High Tides

(ok, even I can only take this song about once a year…but I sure love that once a year! oh, and there aint no video - just wanted to hear the song)

Now I want to drive to Houston in the morning for Van Halen tickets.

Shoot, I could listen to Green Grass and High Tides at least once a week and often do.

  3. TFG Says:

Dick, it seems like I listened to it 10 times a day for a few years back in high school, so I’m kinda burnt out on it.

you do have great taste in old r&r.I run a killer sound system in my 04 f35o that we pull our stock trailers with, got Thin Lizzys Cowboy song right there in the console to crank the hell up & help take my mind off $4.10 diesel.got plenty of Shaver & hank111 too,I’m just an old 65yr old fl. cracker who enjoys your ramblings,GOD bless you, keep em coming.

Signs of a mis-spent youth, Diller.

4.15 diesel…I’m just about to jump into that game. I’d stay gas since nothing I’m hauling or carrying is that big, but I’m putting crazy miles on my truck these days, and I just think a diesel is the way to go. But damn that hurts.

I happily listened to each and every tune with fond memories. Some don’t require me to go back too awfully far. GGAHT worked for me back when it came out and still does to this day. Go figure.

As for thumb-pickin’, it depends on who yer watchin’, my friend. Find yourself a good fingerstyle guitarist and he (or she) is sure to do plenty of it in the course of an evening. If you want names, you have to email me. I don’t give away the secrets of our national treasures to just anyone.

interested to hear about your truck joice, owned a bunch of gas & diesels, mostly fords, couple of dodges, your probably on the right track thinking diesel cause of the no. of miles you put on.but throw the cost diff. between the two, plus fuel per gal. spread & see what you come up with
