Capital Eye - Seeking Superdelegates
And while it would be unseemly for the candidates to hand out thousands of dollars to primary voters, or to the delegates pledged to represent the will of those voters, elected officials who are superdelegates have received at least $890,000 from Obama and Clinton in the form of campaign contributions over the last three years, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.
Kinda unreal, no? I want your vote, and here’s some cash. Just blatant Change & Hope.

It’s like there’s two Americas. One consisting of Democrat superdelgates getting huge amounts of tax free cash because of the political power they hold and one consisting of the rest of us shmoes who don’t get paid to vote.

I forgot to work in the Two Americas meme. Thanks, Holmes.

So you’re telling me that the political system is set up to allow for the enabling of patronage through contributions laundered via PACs?
And that the power structure of a political party is specifically set up to enhance the re-election coffers of the entrenched by brokering access and endorsements for PAC money?
Oh noes! Thar iz two America$!

You’re old enough that this can’t be the first time you’ve heard of this system, BG. Your sarcasm is past it’s use-by date. However, I have to note that it took the Progressives of America to gin up the SuperDelegate system to make sure it was slightly more streamlined and marginally less grubby than shoeboxes full of Benjies. An awkward, coltish response to an age-old problem, and not really out-of-the-box thinking, and see where it’s getting them — Iggy’s researching it and posting it on his poker blog. That’s a very pre-Web2.0 move for the, um, Progressives.
No, give me the smoky back room where I can still pretend that I matter, even if it’s only once every four years.

And quit with the funny cat blog shit, at least here. I can’t keep up.

I love it, legal graft. And I thought the Texas Lege had cornered the market on political theft. How wrong-o I was.
