Random YouTube Walk

A super-sweet version of Wham, an all-time favorite:

And who doesn’t love Pipeline? I mean, that’s not American, not digging Pipeline.

What a wonderful, wonderful song. So much Guitar God stuff going on in there. I love this montage of surf shots, too. How does a hayseed from the N. Texas plains fall for surf music, I ask you? Whatever, I want it played at my wake. Here’s the original Pipeline video, which is pretty dang good, too, if you can get past the dumb movie cut-ins.

Quote of the Freaking Year, Gender Studies Edition

Alarming News:

I don’t do Valentine’s Day–I find it corny and cheesy and, worst of all, I think it lets men off the hook to be romantic and buy you flowers the rest of the year because they do it on this one day [...]

Got that? A grand worth of diamonds, cards, roses, dinner, and probably some ridiculous figurine gets you off the hook.

More proof, if it’s needed, that no matter how hard you might try, it’s just not ever going to be enough, you callous hog.

The Next Slum?

In the Franklin Reserve neighborhood of Elk Grove, California, south of Sacramento, the houses are nicer than those at Windy Ridge—many once sold for well over $500,000—but the phenomenon is the same. At the height of the boom, 10,000 new homes were built there in just four years. Now many are empty; renters of dubious character occupy others. Graffiti, broken windows, and other markers of decay have multiplied. Susan McDonald, president of the local residents’ association and an executive at a local bank, told the Associated Press, “There’s been gang activity. Things have really been changing, the last few years.”

Anybody else remember Danny Faulkner and his helipad out at Hubbard? Same thing. It’ll happen again, after years of bloviating from vote-buying pols, and lots of crocodile tears, then some bright spark will do it again a different way.

How many of those mortgages do you think Susan high-signed?

“Electric Rooster Wakes Me Up”

CNN thinks this is a GLOCK (Real):

Seriously, how can you not believe the parenthetical (Real)? And from CNN, the Most Trusted Name in News? Christ, what idiots. I knew what a damn Colt 45 looked like by the time I was 8. And I had two Colt 45s to contend with.

Eh, what do I care? I got my Glock. I recommend you go get your Glock before Barry Obama gets in, and Hopes and Changes things to not so much. Or not. As I said, what do I care? Yall wanna give it all up for free sutures and shit, that’s your call. I’d sooner bleed.

Via Kevin Baker at The Smallest Minority

The title is a line from a song by a long-forgotten band of hayseeds from Mesquite, TX, my hometown. That’s something you don’t have to care about.
