Isn’t It Enough to Know I Ruined a Pony Making a Gift for You?
By far the oddest behaviour from the Official Left-Libertarian Blogger is his semi-regular campaign to have us believe that Laura Bush has left Chimpy. His link is two months old, and it goes to highly-respected journalistic outfit, E!. You’re telling me that Perez Hilton or some other big wheel or random schmoe can’t get a picture of her sucking down martinis with a cigarette in her mouth in two months? I surely believe it’s possible that such a thing has happened or could happen, but I doubt that it has, for mere lack of evidence. Maybe this is one of those Beltway things that’s common knowledge to the Maryland and Auld Virginny denizens, and they’ve chosen to take the path of…what? Respectably keeping it under wraps, like no pix of FDR in a wheelchair or somesuch? E!nquiring minds want to know.
Other Official Left-Libertarian Blogger Henley Theories I’m interested in hearing addressed: if Iraq is Jihad U., a common-enough complaint and one easy enough for even a dumb hick like me to understand and potentially even buy into, wouldn’t there be whole lot more death-dealing being done in England and Scotland with this spasm of car-bombs? Are they saving the really bright Jihad U. graduates for something or someplace else? Or is it possible that the whole Iraq=Jihad U. idea is a bunch of dovish puffery, designed to cause bedwetting somewhere because this is a real reason to wet the bed? The good news for Jim is that there’s no time-frame for an Iraq=Jihad U. confirmation, which means it can still come true, and so keep wetting the bed if you’re of a bent to do so because this one says you should, vs. that one. Me, I know no one wetting the bed over anything, but it’s a meme of Left-Libertarians, who can see thru such things as amateurish car-bombs a whole ocean away and understand it’s a great way to impose thought-crime legislation via a Presidential signing statement we don’t even know about.
This HenleyWatch was brought to you by Shiner Light, a desire to post something, and my sincere belief that the guy is about as sharp as you’re gonna get on the Fortress America front.

There aren’t many of them that I like — Amanda Shires is one, Libbi Bosworth is another, and there are some more, of course.
One I’ve loved forever is Marti Brom, to whom I was introduced thru the Cornell Hurd Band.* Marti mostly sings rockabilly, or that’s what her fans would have you think. iTunes classifies it as Country, but iTunes is stupid. Me, I just call it Texas Music.** Anyhoo, her voice is big, strong, deep - like both Amanda’s and Libbi’s, it grabbed me by my heart immediately.
To make a long story short, here are two CDs I got in the mail last week that I’ve been listening to pretty intensely:

Both are strongly recommended - TFG gives them 5 Shiners, and there’s no higher. You gotta love tough dames with big voices and a strong twang, though. Not for the easily intimidated. Whole Lotta Lonesome from Wise to You is two minutes and fifty-eight seconds of pure honky-tonk that will make you cry. Good stuff there.
* Cornell also introduced me to Justin Trevino, a man with simply a gorgeous voice. Also highly recommended for the “crying in your beer” Texas C&W. He surrounds himself with great musicians, too, so you get a bonus. Looks like he has a couple of new-ish albums I need to buy.
** Texas is the genre I had to build into iTunes. All of my Texas artists go in there. Ease of use, and all that.

Asia Times Online :: South Asia news - US to hunt the Taliban inside Pakistan
KARACHI - Since last September, North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces in Afghanistan have been pressing Islamabad for the right to conduct extensive hot-pursuit operations into Pakistan to target Taliban and al-Qaeda bases.
According to Asia Times Online contacts, NATO and its US backers have gotten their wish: coalition forces will start hitting targets wherever they might be.
Saudi Arabia is, based on my reading, the bagmen for AQ and Taliban peeps. The Pakis have, for any large number of reasons known mainly to themselves, have been their shelter from the storm, so to speak. If it is indeed true that Musharraf is going to allow NATO to start killing the c—s—ers where they sleep, then…good on him. I believe there are numbers untold of SpecOps types itching to go, and I’m foursquare behind turning them loose.
Of course, it must be said, that if it’s true, it has absolutely nothing to do with Chimpy McBush and his anti-diplomats…it’s just impossible that the Worst President Ever and his Worst Administration Ever could manage something of this nature. It hadda be something else, like Pelosi or Obama — they’re both magical.
You know, there’s not a Powerful Guy on earth I’d like less to be than Pervez Musharraf. How he manages to not just stuff a couple of steamer-trunks full of cash and go sell fish tacos & live bat on the beaches of some quiet coastal town is beyond me.
