Politics, Life, Guns

One is not free by virtue of politics, but despite it — even in defiance of it. One is not moral or responsible because of the threat of punishment; that’s merely risk aversion in service to self-preservation. One is not right or courageous in defense of truth and justice because of the passage of a bill or the outcome of an election, but because of one’s individual choice of values and priorities.
From a post by Francis Poretto wherein he speaks to the negative, destructive nature of spending too much time with the body politic. While it sometimes seems so necessary to do so, mainly so that we may hopefully be able to pass on the values enumerated by Fran to a wider audience, you’re really and truly better off passing on those values individually.
Besides, the dark side of poli-blogging is that you could easily turn into a loon in your pajamas drinking wine in front of the PC, and raving, raving, raving:

Off to the gun show. Looking for
- Remington 700 BDL with Monte Carlo stock
- Ruger Super Blackhawk with Bisley grip (taking your advice, R.)
- Kimber Ultra-Carry II, hopefully gently used, to get the price out of the stratosphere
- a birds-head handled revolver of some sort, mainly because they’re pretty
- piece-parts for a project AR
- gun-show food (smoked cheese, KD!)
My eyes are crossed from poking around 8′ tables covered with a sheet by the time I’m through with this.
