Simply, the greatest two photographs of the olde, decrepit Space Shuttle you can imagine.

Pro: He’s stood pretty firm as an anti-gambling governor.
I just can’t picture that ever being a Pro here in Texas, except to the bluehairs in the choir loft (who are legion, you know.) This state has been a gamble from the git-go, like all western states.
Sometimes I just feel like Gus McCrae, who lamented his role in making Texas safe for bankers and school teachers. There should be no pride in making things safer, not to my mind, anyway.

Cards win. Congrats. I really wanted two more games, but that’s me, Mr. Selfish Baseball Man.
I didn’t see the game, as I was playing in a little poker tournament* (call me Bubble Boy), instead hearing it on the radio. It sounded like Tigger tried the failed strategy elucidated by Big Dick Bennett here in these pages:
The new strategy - confuse the Cards by throwing the ball over the first baseman’s head whenever possible - was untested.
That made me giggle yesteday when I saw it for 30 minutes. Because it’s funny to see grown men who’ve played the game for decades do that. It seems like I saw that precise thing happen 100 times in this Series. And if it wasn’t over their heads, it was wide, or in the dirt, or down the line. I think you can safely say that the pressure got to Tigger.
* No matter how much I love The Great Game, I couldn’t pass up a chance to play cards for real, live money. It was the first tournament for me in months, and I was seriously jonesing. Online play just can’t compete with live action, not for me, not anymore. Now if I can just scare up a regular cash game, I’d be in good shape, pokering-wise.

I’m sitting here staing blankly at a browser screen that is theoretically the control panel of a Windows server somewhere out in the cloud. I’ve never seen one before. This stuff is wierd, man. What the hell is an IIS? Everything I’ve ever done, server-wise, has been a Linux or Big 3 Unix. I guess I’m going to have to print the 50-page install manual for this here CRM system.
