Settle In

Posted by TFG on 7th October 2006

Ten hours of playoff baseball today, including the opportunity to send the Steinbrenner Moneybags home for the winter, which starts at 3:30 CT, so be there to root on Day-twah.

Plus, Texas-UO, which the corporate sponsors have renamed the Red River Rivalry, so as not to offend the soccer moms and play-date dads those two institutes of higher learning generate and the corporate sponsors want to sell crap to. “Shootout?!? Like ‘gun’ shootout? Horrifying!” When the Red Raiders become the Red Ravens, and their slogan becomes “Lobster forks up!”, I’ll know it’s time to shuffle off this wackadoo coil.

Anyway. Ass, meet couch. Somebody bring me two pounds of brisket and a twelver of Michelob Ultra.* And maybe one of those electrode machines that exercise my muscles while I sit on my Jabba butt.

* World’s lightest not-really-there beer…2.5 carbs per mean approximately 5 molecules of flavor in 12 oz. But it’s wet and vaguely beer-tasting, so it gets me over the hump.

UPDATE: Purely delicious. I’m very happy for Pudge, as in, very happy. The kid deserves it. He’s probably the last Ranger I genuinely loved watching play the game of baseball. The idiot Rangers front office deserve watching him do what they said he couldn’t do, too. Sounds like the long knives are out for Alex Rodriguez, as well — couldn’t happen to a nicer egomaniacal Mr. May.
