I’ve got nothing…

…just not interested in Life Amongst The Savages. Here are some cool places that have popped up recently, though, that you should go and check out:

The Deadwood Blog, by “a bunch of guys who have worked on the show for some time”. Those who know me, know I loves me some Deadwood. Best show on the teevee since Hill St. Blues and St. Elsewhere.

The Camp Katrina Blog — “Proving that the United States military does much more than just kill people and break things.” Excellent work by these good people.

Regular commenter Ken’s new blog, ten billion butterfly sneezes – a pretty funny title and what will likely turn into a keeper.

Me, I’m off to play in another tournament this evening. The last few weeks of zero biz travel have been wonderful. I’ve never played so much live poker, and I’m loving it. I’m finding I’m good for about four or five hours of sitting & concentrating. I’ll have to change that when I get rich and retire.

ASSWHIP UPDATE: That did NOT go well. Two times in the tournament, my TPTK got smooth called by a bigger pocket pair, once by bullets. I went out when my AKs ran into bullets. That, my young friends, happened in the first blind level. Yes, 20 minutes worth of play. Talk about your rapid ejections. I got creamed in the cash game when, after playing tighter than Dick’s hatband, went all-in with KK and got called by — you guessed it, rockets. Just not my night. But I made half of it back playing on Party when I got home.

About those TPTK hands — just how do you play them? I haven’t figured out a way to manage them against someone who’s just calling me down. Neither time was the pre-flop raise in front of me more than a min-raise, which I called (we’re talking KQ in late position). I flop top pair, checked to me, bet the pot, get one caller. Turn is a blank – check to me, bet half-pot (because of the earlier call), get called. River is another blank, checked to me, half-pot bet from me, get called, I lose. I’m just doing the betting for Mr. Ace Man, and I don’t know what I need to do to fix it. So, am I being too aggressive? I should probably not make that river bet, I guess, since I’ve already been called twice. The AKs all-in was pure frustration at the hit my stack had taken so quickly, and purley dumb.

Thanks for the mention, Scott. I’m 0-for-2 thus far on successful trackbacks, but I strive hard to debunk the “old dog,new tricks” misconception.

And, it’s “ten Billion butterfly sneezes”, in these days of Federal spendthrift-ism, that’s an easily explained oversight.

    Scott,

Appreciate the link to Deadwood Blog!! And you’re gonna loves you some DW in season 3. We just completed a long stunt sequence–I wish I could relay some of the incredible s–t (stuff) that’s comin’, but I think it’s safe to say, it’s action you’ve never seen on “any” screen before.

I tried to trackback you for this post but couldn’t. Maybe it’s me. Anyway–been reading you for awhile. Good stuff.

My trackbacks are wacky…half the time they don’t work. I doubt that it’s either of us, just crappy network software.
