Mary Mapes, The Funny Picture

Posted by TFG on April 17th, 2005

Banjo Jones: “Mary Mapes, middle, cites “digital McCarthyism.” Click & Laugh™

Banjo is also all over the bog-standard journalism practice of accepting anything that’s free, most especially if liquor’s involved. There’s a Dog Bites Man shocker…reporters accepting free drinks (if I ever see a journalist pick up the tab, it’ll be the first time.) The latest is something to do with a Houston Rodeo deal. Me, I’m all for free cocktails. It’s why I became a blogger - cheap Red Coleman-brand toddies. So far, it’s not working out so good, but in the grand tradition of reporters everywhere, I am always on the job.

CITIZEN MEDIA UPDATE: Speaking of whorenalists:

We are beyond the point of arguing about bloggers v. journalists (thank goodness!).

NOT. I’ve never gotten free tickets to the damn rodeo, much less free booze. Much, much, much less being on teevee or jetting around the country to be on panels about the internets for mediavolk. How about you? Bah. Fish/barrel. Preachers are about the only species that are as generally sanctimonious as the modern mediot. I think it’s the internal artiste in the two of them. Whatever happened to the Blackie Sherrods of the world? Thank God he’s retired, or I’d hate him, too.
