Duh…

Posted by TFG on April 10th, 2005

Ford slashed its 2005 earnings outlook by 29%. The auto maker has been hurt by slumping sales of big trucks and SUVs

I noticed this evening that I just rolled over 60,000 miles in my 2002 F-150, and I’d love nothing more than to go buy a new one. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to pay the exorbitant price they want for a newish copy of the same model 3 years later. There ain’t nothing on it worth $10,000 more. I don’t need no damn DVD player, side-impact airbags, GPS navigation system, or 36″ spinner rims on a damn pickup. They started adding geegaws for urban yoots, hausfraus, and dashing young bankers from Upper Booho, and completely forgot about the dude who has to haul things around on occasion.

You can ditch those cheesy Toby Keith commercials and save some money, too, Bill Jr.

I like having a nice, new truck to pile my customers into to go out to lunch, but I really don’t do such things that much anymore, anyway. If I did, I’d go get a Lincoln. Always liked the Pontiac Bonneville, too, for that matter…kinda racy, ya know?

Good reading! Ain’t it the truth they forgot about the dude who has to haul things around on occasion.

My Toyota 4×4 has seen 260,000 hard urban and off road miles and still drives better than a lot of new trucks, no oil consumption or even pulling to one side or the other, not even a single rattle for that matter and the a/c still chunks out icecubes, Why do I brag about my truck? I guess you just get so attached to these things you hate to let go . Anyhow i’m shooting for at least 300,000 then I will retire it to the property where it will just haul dead animals and fishing poles and become a mouse condo till its last day here on earth.

And you know they’re going to kill off the Bonnie by 2007.

You know, if you are so damn unhappy with there being so many “geegaws” being offered with your car then why do you still own one. Is it a requirement to ramble about OPTIONAL enhancements all of the sudden?

I don’t see your horse power going down because ford seems to be targeting a more diverse market. The bose surround sound system sure doesn’t inflict on your “towing capacity” does it?

How about instead of writing about bull**it like this write about things that aren’t actually a good thing. But then again I doubt you can even spell “social security” so let’s just rule that one out.

I’m sad to hear they’re gonna kill the Bonny — that’s about the only GM car I like. I know it’s a tarted-up LeSabre, but who am I to resist?
