Back at the house

The great thing about working your hiney off in the real world, even for as little as three days, is that you rapidly lose touch with what kind of goofy media BS is making the rounds in blogland. So, after three years and a month of venting about what fools those mortals be, I’ve pretty much decided that I could seriously care less about the idiots running the media world. Because, for the most part, America really doesn’t give a sh*t. We’ve got work to do, and it’s important work, if it’s nothing more than sweeping up the straw wrappers at the Whataburger.
The flip side of this common-as-dirt revelation is that all those politicians read a whole lot of papers and watch a whole lot of teevee in the hopes that they will see themselves get mentioned, and thus, the Shiny Makers have an undue influence on our national character. If we Americans have an ounce of sense, we need to work on figuring out a way to make Ted Hairpiece Koppel’s retirement as unremarkable as the hiring of a new sackgirl down at the Albertsons.
Therefore, I urge you once again to get out from behind the keyboard and get the heck out into the world. Spend a few minutes afterward telling your fellow Americans about the good stuff, then get back to living. This aint no dress rehearsal, after all, and I’m personally ashamed at how much time and effort I’ve spent caring about what could only be called total horsepuckey.
NB: Inspired by an evening watching a great band in an empty room in Dullas for about the eleven-hundredth time.
