Ugly

Posted by TFG on 8th July 2004

Per Chip, there’s a dang hole in Firefox/Mozilla. Hie thee over and update.

[sigh] Is there any damn point to this interweb thing? I’m beginning to think NO. All I do is download and install fixes anymore.

Homie, homie, homie games

Posted by TFG on 8th July 2004

I just got the lowdown from Blue on the Legally Questionable Game© in the ‘hood that I’ve played at a grand total of four times. Live play Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, 1/2 Pot Limit. No tournies at this time, but things could change. Excepting Fridays, that’s set up just perfectomundo for TFG. I’ve got the Fridays covered down in…well, we’ll just say southwest of Dallas, with my true hayseed brethren. Mondays are a piece of cake, usually, as long as the pool doesn’t look like a radioactive swamp after a weekend of neglect. Tuesdays will be late night TFG poker head, since the Wife has that radio thingy going. Now I get to go listen to the young (very white) bucks say things like “Take it down, G” and “What up, dog?” Most hilarious coming from these honkies.

I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I’m so sick and tired of playing online. I’m purely treading water there. SNGs are the bee’s knees, but I inevitably give it all back on a string of suck-outs (and let’s face it, bucko - some pretty damn well-played hands.) It’s also just a leeeetle too easy to try to wander over and make some easy cabbage on the NL rings. By the time I get there, I’m typically half in the bag, so I play like a dummy that’s, you know, half in the bag. I’m no Iggy, not yet anyway. I get all loosey-goosey and start chunking chips around when I’ve got a few tipples sloshing around me. The worst leak in those situations is this: not taking 10 or 20 minutes to learn the table. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked up to find myself heads-up with the big stack, stuck on some deathly draw. That’s the simplest tell of all at PP NL: big stacks = winner.

TeeVee ReViews

Posted by TFG on 8th July 2004

Check out Chris Halverson — he’s the TVGuide to the Gamblers! With reviews and everything.

I can’t watch much poker on teevee. That WPT stuff, with all the dumb melodramatics and breathless announcing and wacky teevee stuff gives me the hives. I always did like the ESPN WSOP, natch, but I haven’t seen any of it yet. I mean, I know what happens, and they always run it as a marathon sometime in the fall and winter when I can just sit and watch it.

Personally, I’d rather be playing…now that my dead-close room is back in bidness….well, that’s even less time for the toob.
