Reuters AlertNet - Poll shows many Germans see U.S. behind Sept 11
Almost one in three Germans below the age of 30 believes the U.S. government may have sponsored the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, according to a poll published on Wednesday.
OK. All this means is that Germany is not lagging the US in producing stoopid kids.
And about 20 percent of Germans in all age groups hold this view, a survey of 1,000 people conducted for the weekly Die Zeit said.
Or wingnut adults. What’s hilarious is that there is likely to be absolutely nothing you could show them that would change their minds. Just like here at home.

New low, J-Lo
In one scene J-Lo, 33, tries to seduce Affleck, 30, by laying on a bed and telling him: “It’s turkey time!”
When he asks: “What?”, she replies: “Come on, gobble, gobble.”
One reviewer said: “There was J-Lo with her legs wide open trying to look sexy and then she opens her mouth and spoils it!
“It was possibly the worst line ever said in a movie.”
I dunno…she’d have to be channelling Larry ‘Bud’ Melman for that one line not to sound pretty damn sexy. Not like I’m ever going to see this movie, anyway. Or find myself in that situation.

Pretty damn cool — the Gutenberg bible is on the Interwebnet, thanks to the University of Texas. Yes, every page has been digitized and placed online, in a readable format. It’s really gorgeous.
The Yahoo headline, “Texas Puts Gutenberg Bible on Internet”, immediately made me mentally picture the Gutenberg Bible sitting on top of the head-end router at the Governor’s office.

The Baseball Crank does a good job explaining the different thought processes on display from the Righties and the Lefties.
But the really big gulf right now — and one that’s getting wider — is between those of us, mostly on the Right, who see the states and organizations that declare themselves to be the enemies of our civilization and start with the assumption that they are all part of the same basic problem (particularly when their rhetoric partakes of the same cocktail of pan-Arabism, pan-Islamism, anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, and old Soviet rhetorical tropes) until proven otherwise, and those (almost exclusively on the Left) who insist on a very high burden of proof before they will see, say, the mullahs in Iran or the regime of Saddam Hussein as being part of the same threat as Al Qaeda.
I don’t really think that the gulf is getting wider, mainly because I’ve come to believe that the gulf has always been pretty wide. I do know that’s what’s getting wider is my inability to try and listen to the Kevin Drums of the world, who appear content to spend days and weeks explaining to me over and over that Bush Lied ( thus instantly giving me Severe Tired Head.) As opposed to offering something substantive and constructive, which one would expect if you’re gonna slap that damn Pundit label on yourself. Parsing sentences wasn’t helpful during the Clinton years, and it’s not any better today.

Yahoo! News - James Brown Announces Breakup of Marriage
“Godfather of Soul” James Brown (news) has announced his breakup from his wife, Tomi Rea Brown, with a full-page ad in the show-business trade newspaper Variety.
[...]
Above the photo, a statement said that because of their “heavy, demanding tour schedule, they have decided to go their separate ways. There are no hard feelings, just a mutual show business decision made by both parties.”
Poor James…you’d think by now the man would know the perils of show-biz marriages. The weird part is they’re gonna keep touring together.

FW man uses back of his resume to write threatening note during robbery
Better check those references, too.
A Fort Worth man robbed a Wells Fargo bank branch in east Fort Worth last week and used the back of his resume to write a threatening note to the bank teller, police said.
“We couldn’t believe that we got this lucky,” said Lt. Jesse Hernandez, a spokesman for the Fort Worth Police Department.
Frederick McDowell, 32, apparently tried to conceal his personal information by taping black construction paper over the front of his resume. Authorities removed the tape and discovered his name and work history.
They tracked him down and arrested him over the weekend. Mr. McDowell was charged with bank robbery and faces 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
As my pal Otis says, “We don’t always catch criminals because we’re really smart — most of the time, we catch them because they’re really dumb.”
