Yahoo! News - Taylor Accepts Nigeria’s Offer of Asylum
Embattled President Charles Taylor accepted an offer of asylum in Nigeria on Sunday, but gave no timeframe for quitting power and insisted the transition must be orderly, urging the United States to send peacekeepers.
…
But, Taylor said, “it is not unreasonable to request that there be an orderly exit from power.” He said U.S. participation in an international peacekeeping force planned for Liberia was “crucial in every way.”
“We embrace it. We accept it,” he said of the possibility of U.S. involvement in a peacekeeping mission
Does this sound like a sucker bet to anybody else?

It’s all over but the shouting now. Two little hard-core groups are left, and one Luxury Camping family. I suspect some day campers will wander in, since the weekend isn’t quite over. This is the only paying gig I’ve got these days, so I’ll be here till the bitter end. The Wife has headed back to Dallas to prepare for the return of the kids, so I’ve got the place to myself, and I’m gonna start doing some drinkin’. Pwshhhht! Ahhh! Cerveza Numero Uno!
I might even go do me some fishin’ if everybody clears out. I need to unlimber this $250 fly-fishing rig that’s been hanging on the wall for two solid years. Being jobless, I look at frippery like that and wonder why in the world I ever bought it. I’ve used it precisely five times that I can remember, and have yet to catch pescado numero uno with it. I guess I can say that, like most frippery, it’s an investment I won’t have to make in my retirement.
Another bit of frippery that’s driving me crazy is this Toshiba e740 that I spent $500 on back in December when my Palm V went berserk. How can something so advanced and full-Geek make me crazy? Well, seems Toshiba has decided NOT to port the new Windows Pocket PC OS to it. Even though it was built with an overpowered processor and more RAM than was usable by the OS. Even though the new OS is designed for the processor it uses, and for the built-in WiFi it already has. Even though it cost $500 6 frikkin’ months ago. The lousy rat bastards at Toshiba have the g–d—ed temerity to offer us poor schmoes a whopping $64 in trade value for their new $500 PDA that will support the new OS. Eff that. I love their laptops, and I was really hoping for the same experience with their PDAs. I’m going back to Palm. Toshiba sucks! Toshiba sucks! Toshiba sucks! Make it a meme, blog-heads, so your dear friends aren’t saddled with over-priced, un-upgrade-able technology.
* Three day weekend…get it?
