That Aint Country dot Com’s Top Five Overplayed Songs of the Week
3 “She’s My Kind of Rain” Tim McGraw We wish she was his kind of shut-the-hell-up.
Heh. I’m fortunate that I have the Ticket to listen to in the truck, and when I’m tired of fart drops and big boob stories tangentially related to sports (typical line: Did you see the cans on Random PGA Winner’s wife?), I can usually find a CD* I haven’t played to death. Down in the sticks, though, I can pick up KTFW - Country Gold. Here’s their Top Ten Country Songs:
10 Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette)-Tex Williams
09 Loves Gonna Live Here-Buck Owens
08 Lovesick Blues-Hank WIlliams
07 Walk On By-Leroy Van Dyke
06 Bouquet Of Roses-Eddy Arnold
05 I Don’t Hurt Anymore-Hank Snow
04 Crazy Arms-Ray Price
03 In The Jailhouse Now-Webb Pierce
02 I’ll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You In My Arms)-Eddy Arnold
01 I’m Movin’ On-Hank Snow
Hard to argue with any list that has two Hank Snow songs.
* And lately, that CD has been a “>two-disc George Thorogood anthology. I love Lonesome George and his wicked slide guitar. And I have done so from the beginning — KZEW played a lot of his first LP, and I think I’ve still got somewhere in the attic, probably covered in mold.
